GPD Initiatives
The LEMIS Project
The Land & Estate Management Information System is a project
intended to enhance the GPD's effectiveness in public service delivery
by providing it with modern property management tools such as Geographic
Information Systems, Electronic Document Management, Revenue Management
and Land Acquisition Management.
The Agricultural Land Scheme (ALS)
The ALS, which was launched in August 2000, provided the chance
for the cultivators (both legal and illegal) of government agricultural
land to apply for a new lease and thereby benefit from the opportunities
offered by the scheme.
Sale of ex-Church Residential Property
Under this scheme, tenants/emphyteuta of ex-church residential property
that was transferred to the state by virtue of the Church/State
Agreement of 1991, are being given the opportunity to buy their
home at special social prices.
Legislative Amendments
In recent years the GPD has undertaken a number of initiatives to
streamline its operational processes to the benefits of its clients.
Considering the very legal nature of the Department's work (that is
tightly regulated by ad hoc laws), this has meant the introduction
of new laws and amendments to existing legislation, e.g. the Revasion
of certain Loands Act and the Administration of Lands Act
Auberge de Bavière Rehabilitation
This project spans a number of years and involves a complete refurbishment
of the Auberge de Bavière to make it more suitable to the functional
requirements of the GPD whilst respecting the cultural and historical
attributes of the building.
