Service Description

This service is intended for those who wish to enquire whether a particular property is government-owned or not, and if it is whether it can be leased. This service is intended to provide basic property information.

Procedure

This service may be obtained in two ways:

i) by calling personally at the Property Records Section of the Estate Management Department. A prior appointment is required and this may be made by calling or e-mailing the GPD's Customer Care Section (Tel. No. 22953238 or 22953239, or e-mail at customercare.gpd@gov.mt).

ii) By writing to the Estate Management Department, Auberge de Bavière, Valletta VLT 2000. Provided all required information is submitted the department will provide a reply indicating whether the property is government-owned and whether it is vacant or already leased. No details regarding existing tenants will be provided.

Documents Required

i) Letter containing such details as:

a) name of applicant;
b) mailing address of applicant - and possibly the e-mail address;
c) telephone number - including Mobile;
d) description of property enquired upon;
e) the reason for the enquiry.Letter as above (where applicable);

ii) Site plan showing clearly the property enquired upon.

Processing Fees

No processing fees are charged for this service.

Service Description
Tenants of government property may obtain additional copies of their lease agreement and property plan apart from that provided to them on signing the agreement This however attracts a fee as indicated hereunder. Such copies will only be provided to the tenant but not to third parties. Copies of public deeds will however be provided to any third party requesting them since such documents are by their own nature public.

Procedure
This service may be obtained in two ways:

i) by calling personally at the Property Investigation & Records Section of the Estate Management Department. A prior appointment is required and this may be made by calling or e-mailing the GPD's Customer Care Section (Tel. No. 22953238 or 22953239, or e-mail at customercare.gpd@gov.mt). When calling personally, tenant's Identity Card is required before a copy of the lease agreement can be provided.

ii) By submitting a simple letter addressed to the Estate Management Department, Auberge de Bavière, Valletta VLT 2000. Where copies are requested by mail, applicant will be asked to submit the fee due before document copies are mailed to him/her. In case of leased property, any document copies shall only be forwarded to the tenant's address as appearing on GPD's records.

Documents Required
i) Letter containing such details as:

(a) name of applicant;
(b) mailing address of applicant - and possibly the e-mail address;
(c) telephone number - including Mobile;
(d) description of property enquired upon or copy of last rent receipt; and (e) the type and quantity of documents required.

ii) Where the property is already leased a copy of the last rent receipt plus the tenant's Identity Card (if calling personally at GPD);

iii) Where rent receipt is not available, applicant must provide the GPD's plan number or a site plan showing clearly the property enquired upon;
