Service RP01 - Payment of rents

Service Description
The rent payment service is intended to facilitate the payment of rent due on leased Government property. The GPD also acts as agent for the Housing Authority in the collection of ground rents due on Home Ownership Scheme plots.

Procedure
The type of access to this service depends on whether the property is government property as distinct from ex-Church property.

Government Property
Rent due on government property can be paid in one of three ways:
i) On-line on the Internet - view the relative Service RP02 - E-Rent, for further details;
ii) At the Local Council Offices  - payment can be made in cash or cheque;
iii) At the respective GPD offices in Malta & Gozo - payment can only be made in cheque (but not in cash). See details below for office address and opening hours;
iv) By mail, by sending a cheque payable to the Land Directorate together with the rent invoice. Mail should be addressed to Land Directorate address shown below.

Ex-Church Property
Rent on ex-Church property can be paid in the following ways
i) At the respective Joint Office premises in Malta & Gozo. Payment can be made either in cheque or in cash). See details below for office address and opening hours;
ii) By mail, by sending a cheque payable to the Joint Office together with the rent invoice or last rent receipt. Mail should be addressed to Joint Office address shown below;

Documents Required
Payment of rent at Local Council offices requires the submission of the rent invoice and the tenant's Identity Card. Payment at the Land Directorate or Joint Office (Malta and Gozo) requires the submission of the rent invoice or the last rent receipt as well as the provision of the tenant's Identity Card.;

Processing Fees
No processing fees are charged for the payment of rent.


Service RP02 - E-Rent - Pay your rent online

Service Description
As from January 2003 rent due on government immovable property in Malta and Gozo may be paid on-line over the Internet. This service is however presently not available for payment of rent on ex-Church property. You are reminded that to effect payment of rent you require a valid credit card and a current rent invoice. A current rent invoice is one where the time-window for payment has not yet expired. This time-window is 21 days starting from the date of the invoice. You are also reminded that the payment will not be accepted unless the correct invoice details are submitted and full payment of the amount due is submitted.

The data that you provide during the payment transaction will only be used for the purpose of recording your payment. We shall abide by the principles of the Data Protection Act and ensure that the data is used for no other purposes and is disclosed to no third party.
